Cerebral blood flow regulation by astrocytes
Dr. Gordon is a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary and a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. He uses optical, electrophysiological and genetic approaches to study the neurovascular unit both ex vivo and in vivo using mouse models with a particular focus on how astrocytes integrate information from neurons and the vasculature to coordinate cerebral blood flow and brain energy metabolism.
