Dementia and Substitute Decision-Making: Guidance for 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities

All times are displayed in Eastern Canadian Time (ET).

Dr. Celeste Pang delivered a seminar to VAST at the start of the year, and has shared another learning opportunity that might be of interest to VASTees wanting to explore the intersection of 2SLGBTQIA+ and dementia.

Join Celeste Pang, Krista James, and Egale Canada on Elder Abuse Awareness Day for a webinar on dementia and substitute decision-making in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

This session will explore findings from Dr. Pang’s research on 2SLGBTQIA+ aging and substitute decision-making for people facing dementia alone, alongside insights from Krista James’ extensive legal career in elder law. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the legal and ethical considerations surrounding substitute decision-making, and learn how to better support 2SLGBTQIA+ people living with dementia — particularly those navigating dementia without family or caregiving supports.
